Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS), often called EPF Pension, is a social security scheme administered by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). The system provides for a pension after retiring at age 58 for employees who work in the organized sector. The government started offering a minimum pension of Rs1,000 per month to pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS), 1995 on September 1, 2014. The government contributes 1.16% of a member’s earnings to the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), according to the PIB release dated August 1, 2022.
Just like government pensioners, even pensioners under EPFO should also submit their annual life certificate.

Who need not submit Jeevan Pramaan?
Note that Jeevan Pramaan for EPS pensioners is valid for one year from date of submission unlike submitting in November for others.
EPS95 pensioners who began receiving their pensions less than a year ago or who filed their Jeevan Pramaan in December 2021 or later are exempt from submitting it in November 2022. The validity of the Jeevan Pramaan Patra is 12 months from the date of the prior submission.
According to an EPFO circular regarding submission of life certificate or Jeevan Pramaan Patra issued in December 2019, “Submission of life certificate or Jeevan Pramaan Patra by Employees Pension Scheme, 1995 pensioners in the month of November in each year may be replaced by a system of submission of life certificate/Jeevan Pramaan after a year from the date of submission of last life certificate/Jeevan Pramaan. Accordingly, pensioners will have to submit the life certificate/Jeevan Pramaan in the same month during next year failing which pension will be stopped from the succeeding month.”
