New Delhi: State-run oil marketing companies announced no revision in the prices of petrol and diesel prices even Sunday, keeping rates steady across major metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Fuel prices have remained the same for nearly six months now as they were last revised before the government reduced the tax on fuel in late May.
The Centre had announced an excise duty cut on petrol by Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre on diesel on May 21 in order to give some relief to the consumers.

Fuel prices across major metro cities
According to the latest price update, petrol per litre price in Delh is Rs 96.72 per litre while that of diesel is Rs 89.62. In Mumbai, a litre of petrol costs Rs 106.31 Rs 94.27 for a litre of diesel. Petrol in Kolkata costs Rs 106.03 per litre while diesel is sold at Rs 92.76 per litre. In Chennai, petrol and diesel are priced at Rs 102.63 and Rs 94.24 per litre respectively.
Petrol in India’s Silicon Valley Bengaluru is priced at Rs 101.94 per litre while diesel costs Rs 87.89. In Uttar Pradesh’s capital city Lucknow, petrol costs Rs 96.62 per litre and diesel Rs 89.81 per litre.
OMCs like Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) update the fuel prices at 6 am daily in line with international benchmark prices.

Oil, meanwhile, dropped by about 2 per cent on Friday, logging a second weekly decline, due to concern about weakened demand in China and further increases to US interest rates.
