Reliance Jio 5G is now available in 5 cities– Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Varanasi. The telecom operator is aiming to reach more cities by the end of this year and will deploy 5G connectivity across major cities in India by 2023. Jio users who have a 5G enabled smartphone will get an invite for 5G once the network is available in their area. However, not all 5G smartphone users will be able to get the invite. To get the Jio 5G invite users will have to keep a few things in mind, including the model of their smartphone and active Jio prepaid or postpaid plan.
Jio 5G invite plan
On the official site, Jio has mentioned that all the Jio users will be connected to the 5G network once it is available in their area. Users will not have to purchase a separate 5G SIM as the current 4G SIM will support 5G connectivity too. So, you just have to make sure that you are using a 5G supported phone and have an active plan of Rs 239 and above.
Jio 5G plans
Jio has not introduced any dedicated 5G plans for people who have received the 5G invite. However, Jio users who are using prepaid or postpaid with a plan of at least Rs 239 can enjoy Jio 5G welcome offer benefits. Under the welcome offer, Jio users will get unlimited 5G data with validity of an active base plan.
Interestingly, Jio has been tested to offer the fastest 5G network speed, with up to 598.58 Mbps. So Jio 5G users can get high speed data, unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day. They can enjoy 5G with OTT benefits if their active base plan includes a free OTT subscription.
Jio 5G supported phones
Not all 5G supported smartphones are ready to connect with the available Jio 5G network. Jio has asked the mobile manufacturers to release the support for 5G as soon as possible so everyone can connect to the 5G network.
OnePlus new flagships and Nothing Phone 1 recently got the update for the Jio 5G. We can expect the update from OEM–Original equipment manufacturer soon for the other smartphones too, including Apple’s iPhone, by December 2023. In the meantime, Jio has launched the 5G WI-FI services in Nathdwara.
