WhatsApp has submitted its report to the IT ministry regarding the service outage that occurred on Tuesday afternoon, reveals a PTI report.
This comes after the ministry had sought reasons from the parent company, Meta regarding the disruption that had occurred.
Union Minister for IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw said in a statement to ANI, “We have lakhs of WhatsApp users across the country and we asked for a detailed report from the company about the outage.”
Sources aware of the matter had revealed that the messaging app was given a week’s time to comply and share a report on the incident.
To the unaware, on Tuesday afternoon, the Meta-owned messaging app was down for nearly two hours as no one could send or receive messages. Downdetector reported over 29,000 reports at one point on Tuesday. This downtime was experienced not just in India but across Asia and even some parts of Europe.
On Tuesday night, WhatsApp had made a public statement, calling the issue a ‘technical error’, “The brief outage was a result of a technical error on our part and has now been resolved.”
As per the report, sources have said the details of the submissions cannot be immediately ascertained as of now. PTI has also tried to seek a separate statement regarding this submission from Meta, but have seen so particular response.
