Muhurat Trading Diwali Session 2022 Date, Time: Stock exchanges — 30-share BSE Sensex and broader 50-share NSE Nifty50 will conduct a one-hour special Muhurat trading session on the occasion of Diwali on October 24, 2022. Muhurat trading is an auspicious time for stock market trading. India is the only country in the world where such a special trading session is conducted. The one-hour trading session is conducted on account of Laxmi Pujan on Diwali. This also marks the beginning of the traditional Hindu calendar year – Vikram Samvat.

History of Muhurat Trading
According to Hindu traditions, Muhurat is an auspicious time when all the planets and stars are aligned in a way to bring good luck and fortune to market investors. The hour of Muhurat trading on Diwali is considered favourable for investing by the trading community. This year, it will mark the beginning of Samvat 2079. Usually, trader communities in India will open new accounts and close the balance sheet of the previous on this day.
While the BSE started the tradition of Muhurat Trading in 1957, the NSE started this in 1992 on Diwali. Now, this has become symbolic for individual traders to trade during this one-hour special trading session.

According to the calendar of ‘Trading Holidays for 2022 – Equity Segment, Equity Derivative Segment and SLB Segment’ on BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India Limited’s Circular, Muhurat Trading 2022 will take place on October 24, 2022.
Diwali Muhurat Trading Session Timings
Nomral Market Open – 6:15 pm
Normal Market Close – 7:15 pm
Set up cut-off time for Position Limit/ Collateral value – 7:25 pm
Trade modification end time – 7:25 pm
According to the NSE, all trades executed in this Diwali Muhurat trading session shall result in settlement obligations.
The exchanges will remain closed on October 24 on the occasion of Diwali Balipratipada.
