PNB WhatsApp banking: Check how to activate, services offered to customers and non-customers

Public lender Punjab National Bank (PNB) on Monday, October 3, announced that it has launched banking services through WhatsApp for both customers and non-customers. The move is aimed at making banking services more accessible.

With this, PNB has joined many other major banks like the State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC, ICICI, Bank of Baroda (BoB), Axis Bank who have WhatsApp banking facility for their customers.

Here’s how to activate PNB WhatsApp banking facility:

Punjab National Bank users can start the banking facility on WhatsApp by sending hi/hello on number customers +919264092640, the state-owned lender said in a statement.

Services offered:

PNB said that non-financial services such as balance inquiry, last five transactions, stop cheque, request cheque book to its account holders can be availed through the WhatsApp banking service.

Other than this, informative services, including online account opening, enquire bank deposit/loan products, digital products, NRI services, locate branch/atm, opt-in, opt-out options would be provided to both account and non-account holders, it added.

PNB’s latest WhatsApp banking service will be available 24×7, including holidays, on both android and iOS-based mobile phones.

However, the public lender has advised customers to check the “green tick” along with PNB’s profile name on WhatsApp to ensure that this is a genuine WhatsApp banking account before starting a conversation.

Meanwhile, the bank is giving an extra 80 basis points (bps) on fixed deposits (FDs) to senior citizens aged above 80. This 80 bps extra interest rate will be available on all tenures ranging from 7 days to 10 years. “Super Senior Citizens of age above 80 years shall get additional rate of interest of 80bps over applicable card rate across all maturity buckets,” PNB said on its website.
