Stocks to buy today, October 7: Stock market may be headed for a negative start on Friday, October 7, tracking weak global cues. At 8:15 am, SGX Nifty was down by over 30 points, indicating a negative opening for the Indian stock markets. Earlier on Thursday, Sensex had advanced 156 points or 0.27 per cent to settle at 58,222.10 while the Nifty gained 57.50 points or 0.33 per cent to end at 17,331.80. Foreign institutional investors were net buyers as they bought shares worth Rs 279.01 crore on Thursday, according to data available with BSE.

Meanwhile, other Asian markets including Japan’s Nikkei 225 was down by over 139 points or nearly 0.51% in early trade while the Korea Composite Stock Price Index or KOSPI Index declined by 0.30%. The Hang Seng index too was down 172 points or 0.95% in the opening trade .
