WHAT IS PASHU AADHAAR?
In the dairy industry, the government is building a database of numbers for the animals, similar to how Aadhaar cards have an identity number. The distinct ID number will make it easier to monitor the animal population.
The Information Network for Animal Productivity and Health (INAPH), which will be known as Pashu Aadhaar, is being developed by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
All animals will be given ear tags with the bar-coded 12-digit UID as part of the procedure. The INAPH will have information about the breed, species, and pedigree of the animal. Information on calving, milk production, and vaccination will also be included.
After a Supreme Court order on a petition to outlaw livestock smuggling, a government committee originally suggested the initiative in 2015 as a way to stop trafficking.
