New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at India Gate on Thursday. Speaking to Times Now, Netaji’s daughter Anita Bose expressed happiness and said that she was very pleased that her father’s statue will be put up in such a prominent historically relevant location.
“I am honored that the government has decided to put my father’s statue in such a central location. My father has been honored in many different ways by the people of India in general and some of the governments. People in villages still remember Netaji which is very touching,” Anita Bose said.
Major General (retired) Gagan Deep Bakshi hailed Modi government’s decision to unveil the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at India Gate.
“This is a very historical process that has been initiated of mainstreaming Netaji and the Indian National Army and their most decisive contribution to the freedom of India’ that was largely marginalised by Lord Mountbatten,” he told the channel
The statue of Netaji is being installed in the same place where a hologram statue of the great freedom fighter was unveiled earlier this year on Parakram Diwas (January 23) by him. The statue, made of granite, is a fitting tribute to the immense contribution of Netaji to our freedom struggle, and would be a symbol of the country’s indebtedness to him. Crafted by Shri Arun Yogiraj, who was the main sculptor, the 28 feet tall statue has been carved from a monolithic granite stone and weighs 65 MT.
The prime minister will also inaugurate the ‘Kartavya Path’ today. The Kartavya Path will exhibit beautified landscapes, lawns with walkways, added green spaces, refurbished canals, new amenity blocks, improved signages and vending kiosks.
