Purvanchal Expressway accident: Expressing his grief over the accident, chief minister Yogi Adityanath asked officials to conduct relief and rescue work expeditiously.
At least eight people died and 20 others were injured after a stationary double-decker bus on the roadside was hit by a speeding double-decker bus on the Purvanchal Expressway in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, early on Monday.
According to reports, the condition of three of the injured persons is critical. They have been referred to the trauma centre of King George Medical University in Lucknow, while the others are undergoing treatment at the Haidergarh Community Health Centre.
The accident took place when the bus carrying around 50 passengers was heading from Sitamarhi district of Bihar to Delhi. The bus rammed into another bus near Narendrapur Madraha village under Loni Katra police station limits.
Expressing his grief over the accident, chief minister Yogi Adityanath asked officials to conduct relief and rescue work expeditiously.
“The loss of life in a road accident on Purvanchal Expressway is very sad. Instructions have been given to the concerned officials for speedy relief and rescue operations and proper treatment of the injured,” the CM wrote on Twitter .
