Kangana Ranaut hasn’t had success at the box office in years with her last film Dhaakad turning out to be one of the biggest disasters of Indian cinema.
Undeterred by back-to-back flops, Kangana has moved on to her next film which is also her second directorial, Emergency.
In the film, Kangana will be seen playing the character of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
As the shoot of the film commenced, the actress treated fans with a 1-minute & 21-second teaser along with a first-look poster.
Sharing the poster, she tweeted, “Presenting #EmergencyFirstLook! Portraying one of the most powerful and controversial women in the history of the world…#Emergency shoot begins”.
And followed it up with a teaser with the caption that read, “Presenting ‘Her’who was called ‘Sir’ #Emergency shoot begins”.
Check out the poster & the teaser below:
Reacting to Kangana as Indira Gandhi, one fan wrote, “Disaster in advance”.
Another tweeted, “Ye film dekhne ke baad logo ko ’emergency’ ki jaroorat padegi.”
A third fan wrote, “Very soon she ll be doing the music, cinematography and playing all the other roles on screen by herself too.”
One comment read, “Did she take permission of anyone for playing Indira character as we all know her strong one sided bias against Indira or what Indira represents? If it was a spoof/criticism/mockery in the same name then it is different but if she playing “portrayal” of her then it is diff.”
However, there were others who were quite impressed with the actress’ act as one of them tweeted, “She nailed it, for a moment I felt like it’s Indira Ji only and the voice”.
Another wrote, “The best actress without any doubt, just look at the voice modulation and mannerisms, it’s so natural and uncanny, still nowhere it looked #KanganaRanaut trying to immitate #IndiraGandhi. And there is so much maturity & understanding in her direction.
#Emergency”.
