Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will be touring the rain-affected areas in the state. After reviewing the situation, he will issue orders to take the necessary action.
CM Bommai said that he would tour Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi districts, which have been affected due to heavy rains.
He also stated that he had interacted with the Deputy Commissioners of the affected districts regarding the rescue work needed to be undertaken.
“The Malnad region, Kodagu, Uttara Kannada and coastal regions have been lashed by heavy rains for the past 10 days. Already, I have interacted with the Deputy Commissioners concerned through video conference to take up rescue and relief work,” said the Chief Minister.
“As the rains have abated, I will visit the affected areas starting tomorrow to take stock of the situation and issue necessary instructions to take up relief work. I will visit Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Karwar (district headquarters town of Uttara Kannada),” said the chief minister.
He added that there were heavy rains in north Karnataka as well.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), on Monday, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light to moderate spells of rain with gusty wind speeds reaching 30 to 40 km per hour will hit Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada.
