Aadhaar is an important proof of residence for the people of India. It is a combination of all the documentary evidence that links to the pan, voter id, passport and bank account etc. Being the largest biometric ID system, it is a subject for identification. So having a hard copy might get displaced. Therefore, the best way to carry Aadhaar is to have a soft copy on your user’s device. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) announced downloading of Aadhaar soft copies.

They have proposed a link through which users can download it by providing a 12-digit unique ID on the official link eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in. Regular Aadhaar is an option that shows the complete Aadhaar number whereas Masked Aadhaar exhibits the last four digits.
The Masked Aadhaar will include the first eight digits of the Aadhaar number for safety and security purposes. For queries related to downloading Aadhaar, there is an assigned helpline number 1947 which solves all the queries related to Aadhaar.

Step 1: Go to the official website of UIDAI, i.e., eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.
Step 2: Next, select the download option that displays the option ‘Download Electronic Copy of Your Aadhaar.’
Step 3: Choose the ‘Aadhaar Number’ and provide the 12-digit unique ID in the box.
Step 4: For Masked Aadhaar, the user needs to click on the ‘I want a Masked Aadhaar’.
Step 5: Now tap on the Send OTP option so that you will get the Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
Step 6: Enter the OTP and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
Step 7: After the OTP authentication is done, a PDF is downloaded onto the Aadhaar card by choosing the ‘Download Aadhaar’ option.
Step 8: The password for accessing the Aadhaar is the 4-digit date of birth.
