Motorola has announced the launch of the Moto G42 in India on July 4. The new smartphone succeeds the Moto G40 and it comes following the launch of the Moto G52 and Motorola Edge 30 recently. Ahead of the official launch, Motorola has set up Moto G42’s Flipkart page that reveals its design, colours, triple rear cameras and other key specifications. The phone will also come with Android 12 out-of-the-box, similar to newer Motorola smartphones.
Key features include a 6.4-inch display with Full-HD+ resolution and a hole-punch cutout for the single 16-megapixel selfie camera. The posters reveal the phone in blue and pink colours and with seemingly flat edges. Motorola calls these colour options Atlantic Green and Metallic Rose. Notably, the back panel is made of PMMA, which is technically plastic but with a glass-like finish. However, the display has a considerable chin.
The Moto G42 packs dual speakers with Dolby Atmos to make the audio experience more immersive. Under the hood, it will pack Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680, which powers several budget smartphones. The chipset is paired with 64GB expandable storage, while the RAM configuration remains unclear.
Users will also get an IP52-certified build for dust and water resistance. Coming to cameras, the rear camera module will house a 50-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. There’s also going to be a macro sensor at the back. Lastly, the Moto G42 carries a 5,000mAh battery with 20W fast charging.
It is unclear whether the Moto G42 will go on sale on the same day as the launch date. Its pricing is unclear too. But looking at the spec sheet, we can expect the device to cost under Rs 20,000. Currently, the Moto G52 costs Rs 16,499 and Rs 14,499. The Motorola Edge 30 is available in India for Rs 27,999 and Rs 29,999.
