Passport can be easily availed by providing documents that have a validity of 10 years and need to be renewed once they expire. The individuals willing to renew their passport have to follow certain procedures by booking an appointment on the official website.
All you need to do is book an appointment and provide the required documents to the nearest post office. Therefore, it is needed for the applicant to have a checklist of all the required documents before booking an appointment for renewal or re-issuing of a passport.
STEPS FOR PASSPORT RENEWAL:
ONLINE REGISTRATION:
Step 1: For registration, login to the official website Passport Seva i.e. www.passportindia.gov.in.
Step 2: Existing users can login to the website on the ‘Existing User’ option.
Step 3: New users need to click on the ‘New User? Register Now’ option.
Step 4:Search for the nearest passport office which is closest to your location and easily accessible.
Step 5: The registration process needs to have basic details to be entered correctly.
Step 6: Next, create a Login ID and password.
Step 7: Then you will receive a confirmation email on the registered e-mail ID.
Step 8: Account will be activated by tapping on the link that is sent to the registered email ID.
Step 9: After logging in to the passport account, choose ‘Apply for Fresh Passport/ Reissue of Passport’

FILLING FORM:
Step 1: The form needs to be downloaded in PDF format.
Step 2: Next fill in the form that is available online and provide your current status.
Step 3: Users can also update their spouse’s details.
Step 4: Two local references with full details like name, contact number and address are given. These people might be reached out for police verification.
Step 5: While filling out the form, the city and village needs to be validated by a click and the form is saved.
Step 6: Next, the document needs to be uploaded to the same page where it is downloaded from.
Step 7: Finally, the details will be automatically entered in the online form.
SLOT BOOKING:
Step 1: Select ‘Schedule Appointment’.
Step 2: Prefer the available slots as per the users convenience.
Step 3: Once the slot is confirmed, the appointment is scheduled.
