Around 10000 people from various Northeastern states participated in the Yoga festival. All the important leaders of Northeastern states, including Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and several MPs from the region also took part in the programme.

Union Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, “As thousands of people from all the Northeastern states came together at Sivasagar to perform yoga, it reinforces our sustained effort to put the iconic heritage sites of Assam in the tourism map of the world through this event today.”
The main idea behind it was to encourage more and more people to take up Yoga. The Minister called Yoga a beautiful gift of thousands of years of civilisation.
Soon after, the Minister took to Twitter and tweeted:
“Sivasagar is one of the iconic archaeological districts of India. The #50DaysToIDY2022 event will help unlock the massive potential in our tourism sector and become Vocal for Local.”
