Xiaomi is planning to launch the next generation of the Redmi Note series. The General Manager of Redmi, Lu Weibing, has posted an image on Weibo, teasing the launch of the upcoming phones. It suggests that the Redmi Note 12 series is on the way and will be available soon. The upcoming phone will be a successor to the Redmi Note 11 series that was launched in China in October.
The Redmi Note 12 series isn’t expected to arrive in the Indian market anytime soon as the Note 11 series was launched in March this year. The new handsets will likely be announced later this year. The brand took around four months to launch the Redmi Note 11 series in India.
The teasers suggest that the new Redmi Note series phones will get a big performance upgrade over their predecessors. The company hasn’t yet revealed as to when it plans to launch new smartphones in China. It is being said that Xiaomi could simply call the phone Redmi Note 11T or Redmi Note 12 to make it easier for people to distinguish it from previous models.
While not much is known about the new phones, a Chinese tipster, Digital Chat Station, recently asserted that Xiaomi is gearing up to launch new phones that will be called Redmi Note 11T series. The cited source suggests that the standard device will be powered by a MediaTek SoC and the high-end variant will also have a 144Hz LCD panel.
The upcoming Redmi Note series could be priced between CNY 1,599 to CNY 2,500 (approximately Rs 17,400 to Rs 28,900), according to the tipster. The same device is expected to make its debut in India as well.
