Women, kids to get free entry to Bihar Museum on specific days

Patna: The Bihar Museum will celebrate its foundation day on August 7 every year. Special arrangements will be made for children’s visit to the museum that day.
The decision was taken at the first meeting of the museum’s newly constituted governing body under the chairmanship of chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday. It was also decided in the meeting that women would be allowed free entry in the museum on International Women’s Day and children be allowed free entry on Children’s Day. Similarly, senior citizens should be allowed to visit the Bihar Museum free of cost on Bihar Diwas. Besides, arrangements should be made for ensuring people’s visit to the museum free of cost on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.
The CM said as the Bihar museum is of international standards and visited by a lot of people every day, the authorities concerned must ensure its proper maintenance and governance. “The museum has been designed by an international team of designers. Hence, its unique construction and design must be maintained at all costs,” the CM said, adding that the historical facts related to all the exhibits written both in Hindi and English should be displayed so that the visitors might get full information about the various exhibits.
Nitish further said that even the Patna Museum is being expanded and modernized and being connected to Bihar Museum through an underground tunnel so that people coming from outside the state may visit both simultaneously. “Patna Museum must also be maintained properly on the pattern of Bihar Museum,” he said.
Bihar Museum director general Anjani Kumar Singh presented the annual report for the year 2020-21. The annual budget of the museum for the current fiscal was also approved in the meeting.
Others who attended the meeting included minister for art, culture and youth affairs Alok Ranjan, CM’s principal secretary Deepak Kumar, development commissioner Vivek Kumar Singh, education department’s additional chief secretary Sanjay Kumar, finance department’s additional chief secretary-cum-CM’s principal secretary S Siddharth, state urban development and housing department’s principal secretary Anand Kishor, energy department’s principal secretary Sanjeev Hans, PHED secretary Jitendra Srivastava and the secretaries of building construction and art, culture and youth affairs departments.
