Putting a halt to 4-day losing streak, the Indian markets rebounded sharply in the closing ours to sit in the green on Tuesday, a day after exit polls for state elections were announced. Benchmarks Nifty 50 and the Sensex, which closed with 0.95% and 1.10% respectively, were powered by IT, PSU Bank and Realty stocks to make a bounceback on Tuesday. The Nify50 closed above 16,000, while the Sensex gained more than 550 points as midcap and small cap indices to gained nearly 1.5% each.
On Wednesday morning, Asian markets were off to a good start as all major Asian indices trading in the green. Japanese Nikkei 225 was trading higher by more than 1%, Hang Seng Index at the Hong Kong Exchange was up 0.40% and Chinese Shanghai Composite was up 0.60% around 7.40 am on Wednesday.
However, SGX Nifty on the Singaporean Exchange was trading marginally lower by 0.10%.
On Tuesday, the US markets were seen closing in the red as Dow Jones declined 0.56%, Nasdaq Composite ended with loss of 0.28% and S&P500 closed 0.72% lower amid rising geopolitical tensions.
