GURUGRAM: Medical students who completed their courses in Ukraine and were forced to return because of the Russian assault there would be given internship opportunities in India, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Sunday.
Khattar, who was in the city, interacted with the students who returned from the war-torn country recently. At the public works rest house, he told a news conference that of the 1,800-odd students from Haryana who were studying in Ukraine, 1,234 had come back home till Saturday. Some, he said, were on the borders, while others had reached either Delhi or Mumbai. Around 80 students from the state are still stuck in Ukraine, according to the CM. “The government is in touch with them and is worried,” he added.
Khattar said once all the students were brought back from Ukraine, the government would hold talks with the Centre on their future. The CM said the issue would be discussed once all of them returned home.
“The Prime Minister has assured that students who have completed their courses will be given internship opportunities. After that, they have to qualify in the FMGA exam in keeping with the rules. The fate of the final year students who were on the verge of getting their certificates will be discussed when all of them are back,” he added.
