Singer-composer Bappi Lahiri passed away at the age of 69 in a Mumbai Hospital on late Tuesday (February 15).
New Delhi: Veteran singer-composer Bappi Lahiri passed away at the age of 69 in a Mumbai Hospital on late Tuesday (February 15). News agency PTI broke the news and tweeted, “Singer-composer Bappi Lahiri dies in Mumbai hospital, says doctor”.
According to Zee Media reporter, Bappi Lahiri was home last night and unwell. He was then moved to a hospital in Juhu, where he passed away. He died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) last night.

Earlier, the singer-composer was admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday (February 14). But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home, following which he was brought to the hospital. He was suffering from multiple health issues.
Last year in April, the musician was admitted to Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai after being diagnosed with COVID-19. He recovered after a few days.

Bappi Lahiri was at the peak of his career in 1980s and 1990s. He is credited for popularising the use of synthesized disco music in Indian cinema. Disco Dancer, Dance Dance, Commando, Chalte Chalte and Sharaabi are some of his many popular compositions.
The musician also ventured into politics and joined the BJP. He contested election for the seat of Srerampur in West Bengal for the 2014 Indian general election and lost.
Bappi Lahiri last composed Bollywood song ‘Bhankas’ for the 2020 film Baaghi 3.
