In two different operations, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized drugs worth Rs 6 lakhs and nabbed two accused on Tuesday.
As per the report published by the Times of India (TOI), the team from the anti-drug agency seized 3kg of ‘charas’ worth Rs 4.6 lakh in Indua village of Shravasti. The person carrying the contraband was identified as Dashrath.
In another incident, 2,700 tablets of Alprazolam worth Rs 1.5 lakh were recovered and seized by the NCB. As per the report, the tablets were being illegally sold by a medical store owner in Lakhimpur Kheri.
The NCB Lucknow zonal director, Prashant Singh, said, “His interrogation is on. It might lead to more arrests in the case.”
He disclosed that drives against illicit sale or diversion of psychotropic drugs in the districts falling along the Indo-Nepal border were on during the election period.
According to the report by TOI, banned narcotics worth Rs 46 lakh have been seized so far and nine people have been arrested.
