WhatsApp has come a long way from being just an app for messaging and chatting with people to being a full-fledged communication application.
Now, WhatsApp is working on a new interface for voice calling for some beta Android users. The new interface would be rolled out for both Android as well as iOS users, but for now, it is being tested with the beta Android users.
The new interface was reported to be under development back in December 2021. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp for Android beta 2.22.5.4 has brought the updated voice calling interface to some users.

This new WhatsApp voice call interface has a round grey square in the front and center. It will also house the contact name, number, and profile picture as well. One of the most noticeable changes is that the UI now has wallpaper. Previously, the background was black, but now it’s ornamented by WhatsApp’s default wallpaper.
According to reports, there is no further option to customise this wallpaper or background. However, that may change in the future, and WhatsApp may give you the option to change the call background.
To understand who is speaking on a group voice call, WhatsApp is working on bringing waveforms so that users can identify the speaker. In addition, WhatsApp has been spotted working on a new screen for responding to users about their account ban reviews.
WhatsApp is currently testing the new interface in the Android beta version. It is expected to be released soon for iOS users as well. WhatsApp is also working on some new features, including tweaking the built-in camera and a redesigned caption view, for iOS users.
