An under-construction building in Pune Maharashtra, had collapsed on Wednesday night in which five people died
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief and sorrow on the horrific incident of building collapse in Pune Wednesday night. The Prime Minister took to Twitter to extend condolences to the aggrieved families of the unfortunate incident.
“Pained by the mishap at an under-construction building in Pune. Condolences to the bereaved families. I hope that all those injured in this mishap recover at the earliest,” PM Modi tweeted.
An under-construction building in Pune Maharashtra, had collapsed on Wednesday night in which five people died and several others have been reported injured. According to preliminary reports, the slab of the structure at the basement of the under construction building collapsed. All the victims of the tragic incident were labourers working at the construction site.
“Ten workers who were working under the structure of iron rods ,got trapped when the structure suddenly collapsed on them,” said Sunil Gilbile, Chief Fire Officer reports news agency ANI.
Investigations reveal that the incident happened due to lack of precautionary measure at the construction site. “Five people have died on spot, two are critically injured, while three have suffered minor injuries. The primary investigation suggest precautionary measures are not in place at this site, Rohidas Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Police was quoted by ANI.
An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause behind the incident and punish those responsible for the carelessness. Rescue operations are still underway.
