Xiaomi has launched a new variant for its Redmi Note 10S smartphone in India. The latest device from the house of Redmi India comes with an improved memory, including more RAM as well as storage. The new phone will go on sale for the first time in the country tomorrow, which is December 3.

The new Redmi Note 10S variant has been priced at Rs 17,499. In comparison to its counterparts, it costs Rs 1,000 more than the 6GB RAM, 128GB model of the device. A 6GB RAM and 64GB storage option retails for a starting price of Rs 14,999.

As for its sale, Redmi India has confirmed that the Redmi Note 10S will be up for grabs on December 3, i.e. Friday, starting at 12 pm. The phone will be available for purchase from the Amazon India website as well as Mi Homes.

Redmi Note 10S specifications

For those not acquainted with the smartphone, the Redmi Note 10S was launched in May this year at a starting price of Rs 14,999. It features a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED display that promises 2400×1080 pixels resolution, 409 PPI and 1100 nits peak brightness.

The phone is powered by MediaTek Helio G95 chipset and features the memory offerings as mentioned above. It runs MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 right out-of-the-box.

For optics, the Redmi Note 10S comes with a quad-camera setup which features a 64-megapixel wide-angle camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. There is also a 13-megapixel selfie shooter at the front, housed in a punch-hole cutout.

The device is backed by a 5000mAh battery that also features 33W fast charging. Other highlight features include a side mounted fingerprint sensor, AI face unlock, dual speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual SIM connectivity as well as an IP53 rating for protection against splash, water, and dust.

We tried out the Redmi Note 10S for about a month and found it to be a very capable smartphone at a reasonable price. The only issue it faces is the presence of the likes of Redmi Note 10 Pro in the market for about the same budget. In comparison, the device pales on some fronts, as the Note 10 Pro features a glass back, a more reliable processor, a 120Hz panel, the same camera system and a more premium feel.
