These 5 countries set ‘expiry date’ for COVID-19 vaccination certificates
Are you keen to go on an international trip in 2022? Note that you might require a COVID-19 booster shot before you go. This is because a growing number of countries are announcing that they will be setting an expiry date for vaccine certificates. As of now, the following countries have already set an expiry date, while it’s expected that more and more countries will be added in the said list in the near future.

Croatia
Croatia became the first country to set a maximum validity period for COVID-19 vaccine certificates. Initially, the country set a requirement that travelers were required to be fully vaccinated for no more than nine months before arrival, which has now been extended to one year before arrival.

Austria
In August, Austria announced that its vaccine certificate is good for only nine months after full vaccination, which was extended later to around one year. As per the Austrian Tourism website, the vaccine certificate is valid for 360 days after the 2nd dose for 2-dose vaccines. Further, as per the Austrian authorities, vaccines that require only one dose, will remain valid from the 22nd day after that dose, and for 270 days from the vaccination date. Moreover, those who have recovered from COVID-19 will be allowed to enter the country for up to 180 days since the infection.

Switzerland
Switzerland also opened its borders last month to fully vaccinated travellers. However, as per the latest reports, Swiss health authorities will likely consider that a person is fully vaccinated only for a period of 12 months from the date of complete vaccination.

Vietnam
As Asia continues to open for tourism, countries are adopting cautious approaches. Vietnam is one such country that is moving forward with a slow-and-careful approach. As per the reportsm the country will start a pilot program by next month, which will offer a limited number of fully vaccinated foreign tourists a quarantine-free entry to Phu Quoc, a region known for its idyllic beaches. However, there is a catch and that is travelers must have received their second vaccine shot at least 14 days before, or have not been more than 12 months ahead of arrival.

Israel
As reported earlier, Israel recently tightened restrictions for the country’s COVID Green Pass, which is required to enter indoor venues. As per the latest reports, passes for those who have received both the shots of COVID vaccine or those who have recovered from COVID-19, will now remain valid for just six months, after the date of their recovery or completed vaccination.
