WhatsApp Beta for Windows available for download – official link, how to install it

The app itself is based on the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) and notifications work even if the app is closed.

WhatsApp Beta for Windows: The Meta-owned WhatsApp, one of the most popular instant messaging applications around the globe, has been working on a standalone desktop app for Windows for long time now and now the messaging platform has finally released it in beta version. The WhatsApp Beta is available for download from Microsoft’s Windows app store.

“Get WhatsApp Beta and you’ll be one of the first to try updated features and share feedback about the new app. As always, your personal messages and calls continue to be protected with end-to-end encryption. No one outside of your chats, not even WhatsApp, can read or listen to them,” Microsoft wrote.

According to WAbetainfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp, revealed that the new Windows app requires multi-device features, so it doesn’t need your phone to be connected to the Internet to work.

“The app is a beta version, but we have tested it and it’s incredibly stable because it is native and it uses less resources than WhatsApp Desktop, even if some features are still missing: it’s a very good replacement for the current WhatsApp Desktop app,” the platform said.

The app itself is based on the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) and notifications work even if the app is closed. There’s also a new writing pad feature, with support for multi-device functionality and the app is still in beta so some are expected and more features will be implemented in the future.

Tap on the get option. After installing the app, you need to link your WhatsApp account from “Linked Devices” using a QR Code: chats will start to be in sync and you can finally use and test the new beta app.

Note that this is still a beta app, so some features (like archived chats, status updates, stickers) are missing: they will be added in the next updates. In addition, as you can see, there is a new Feedback button, so you can imagine that WhatsApp is interested to get feedback from you.
