Follow Covid-19 rules, Gurugram RWAs say after 10 cases in 2 condominiums

GURUGRAM: Resident associations in the city have urged people not to let their guard down against Covid-19 after 10 people in two condominiums tested positive for the virus following the festive season. The RWAs have asked people to avoid huge gatherings, maintain social distancing, wear masks and follow hand hygiene.

Seven cases have been reported from two families in The Close South in the past one week while three people tested positive two days ago in Ridgewood Estate.

“This Diwali, we did not allow public gatherings nor did we organise fairs or meals, keeping in mind the risks associated with Covid. We have been fogging and sanitising the common areas and elevators regularly and tracking the vaccination status of residents and staff. We have quarantined the impacted apartments while ensuring their regular medical support and food and grocery supplies,” said Jagjit Singh, RWA president, The Close South.

Similarly, at Ridgewood Estate, thermal screening at the gates and sanitisation of common areas has been intensified. RWA general secretary Kittu Mathur said, “Lifts are being sanitised twice a day and we are communicating with residents to avoid any panic.”

Dhruv Bansal, spokesperson of Qutab Enclave RWA, said guards have been told to ask people to follow norms. “We are coordinating with authorities to conduct surprise checks at markets and are regularly advising people via social media to be cautious,” he added.

However, he said, laxity has set in towards Covid protocols and many people can be seen moving around in public places without masks.

“We understand there is fatigue. With things moving towards normalcy, people have let their guard down. But this is not the time to do so as we are all yet to be fully vaccinated,” said Bansal.
