It has often happened to us all when it suddenly dawns on us — it’s about that “time of the month” and you are not prepared. Avoid the embarrassment and panic of unexpected arrival of period at work with these tips:
Keep A Track On Your Dates With A Calendar Or Diary
You will be able to predict when you are due, so that you don’t get caught off guard at work. Stock your drawers at work with feminine hygiene products that you use. That way, you know for certain that you’ll never get caught out! You can also pack them with other essentials such as heat pads and painkillers.
Don’t Keep Sitting
Get up on your lunch break and take a stroll. Even if it is to the shops to pick up some munchies. The two combined will counteract the dreaded cramps. Plus, staring at your screen the whole day will only make you feel more tired and agitated. Getting some fresh air will re-energise you.
Try Opting For Clothing That’s A Bit More On The Comfy Side
If you are someone who always opts for a tight skirt and high heels, why not mix it up? Try wearing something that makes you feel comfortable and confident at the same time.
Eat Well
Your metabolism needs all the help it can get when you’ve got your period, so eat regularly. Little and often is the key, and make sure you get plenty of vitamins C and B6. You’ll find these in chicken, fish, turkey, nuts, bananas, potatoes, eggs, citrus fruits and cranberry juice.
Add some fresh vegetables to your tiffin as well. Try to avoid foods that are high in salt, as they’ll encourage water retention and bloating, and steer clear of caffeine as it constricts your blood vessels and increases tension.
Drink Lots Of Water
It will not only help with water retention, but it will prevent you from becoming dehydrated – and feeling even more tired and lethargic.
Always Keep A Body Mist or Deodorant
Keeping these in your office drawers or bag is important. We may not realise it but the smell can be very strong for others at times.
