E Shram Card Download Online Apply Registration at E Shram Portal: Migrant workers and their families are eligible to avail Rs 2 lakh in case of accidental death and permanent disability.
New Delhi: Migrant workers can now avail the benefits of social security like accidental insurance and employment-based schemes by registering on the e-Shram portal and downloading e-Shram card, Ministry of Labour and Employment said in a statement. Since its launch on August 26 this year, more than one crore unorganized workers have registered on the e-Shram portal, the central government said.
“An overwhelming proportion of migrant workers are engaged in these sectors of work. As per Economic Survey 2019-20, there are an estimated 38 crore unorganized workers (UW) in the country, which would be targeted to register on this portal. These migrant workers also can now take the benefits of various social security and employment-based schemes through registration at the e-Shram portal,” Ministry of Labour and Employment said in a statement.
- Migrant workers must remember that e-Shram card received after registration will be accepted across the country.
- They are eligible for accidental insurance coverage through Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
- Migrant workers and their families are eligible to avail Rs 2 lakh in case of accidental death and permanent disability.
- Apart from these, there is Rs 1 lakh in case of partial disability.
- It must be noted that Social Security Benefits will be delivered through e-Shram portal.
- Migrant workers need to register on e-Shram portal – http://eshram.gov.in.
- Registration on e-SHRAM Portal can be done through Self-Registration, Common Service Centers (CSCs) and Regional offices of State Governments.
