Just like an ordinary scene looks extraordinary in pictures, there are a number of ordinary locations across India, which have been immortalised by Bollywood on screen, and turned into a tourist spot overnight. While many places remained less-explored for the longest period of time, Bollywood brought them closer to our hearts and inspired many to explore such places. Of course, these have now become favorites in the tourist circuit.

Rohtang Pass, Himachal Pradesh
Rohtang Pass featured in Bollywood movies like Dev D, Jab We Met, and Highway, and it’s quite interesting to know that these movies have, in a way, immortalised the snow-clad stretches of Rohtang Pass on celluloid. These movies have inspired many to include this stretch in their travel wishlist, and made it one of the sought-after road trip destinations.

Manali, Himachal Pradesh
Indian mountain ranges have always been the favourite film locations of Indian filmmakers and Manali used to be their most preferred spot; perfect with its lush green forests, majestic peaks, and rivers. And years after Rishi Kapoor’s Heena brought Manali on the cinematic canvas, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani of Ranbir Kapoor once again gave Manali the much-deserved attention. Ranbir’s movie also catapulted Manali tourism, and made Hadimba Mandir one of the must-visit places for travellers.

Pangong Lake, Ladakh
Pangong Lake is not only one of the most favourite destinations for tourists, but it is also the most sought-after Bollywood location, despite its harsh climate and travel conditions. The manner in which the cinematic canvas was painted by this lake in blockbuster movies, including Jab Tak Hai Jaan and 3 Idiots, has only inspired even the non-travellers to plan a trip.

Just like hit films that were shot in this location like Life of Pi and Chennai Express, Munnar is also fast becoming one of the favourite destinations in South India.
