THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Covid review meeting chaired by chief minister Pinarayi Vjayan decided not to bring in any additional restrictions in the state during the Onam festivities. In the meeting, it was also decided to go ahead with the present restrictions imposed based on the weekly infection population ratio.
A study will be conducted to find out the reasons behind 124 people getting infected with Covid-19 even after getting vaccinated with the two doses. These cases have been reported from Mallappally in Pathanamthitta district.
There were reports of more people being tested positive after two doses of vaccination. The chief minister urged the health department to constitute a committee to study the reasons behind this. The expert committee on Covid has also been asked to conduct a study on the scenario.
The chief minister urged the local bodies to take effective steps in hospitalizing those who have comorbidities and are being tested positive. The ward-level committees and rapid response teams should take extra effort in shifting the positive people with comorbidities to the nearest hospitals at the earliest. He said they should not be allowed to continue in home care.
The CM also directed that the vaccination should progress as usual even during the holidays and at no point the number of vaccinations should come down. All people with comorbidities and pregnant women should be given at least one dose of vaccination before this month end. These two categories of people should be given top priority, the CM said.
The health department has been asked to take effective steps for ensuring that there is no shortage of syringes in any district.
