KOTA: On the second day of their tour in Hadauti region to assess crop and property damage in recent floods, a three-member squad of inter-ministerial panel on Friday visited the affected villages in Keshoraipatan–Kapren area of Bundi district.
The panel comprising joint secretary, Union home ministry, Sumannt Singh, advisor in finance ministry R B Koul, director in ministry of water resources H H Sanger, accompanied by Bundi district collector Ashish Gupta, local BJP MLA Chandrakanta Meghwal and other district officials reached Navghat area of Keshoraipatan and took stock of the situation, where a house had collapsed in the recent rains, killing seven members of a Kevat family. The panel interacted with the kin of the deceased.
The Central officials later in the day reached Adagela ke Balaji, Bhavpura Basti, Borda, Balapura, Kapren, Kodkiya, Bajhdali, Azanda, Notra, Papdi, Lakheri areas of Kapren and Keshoraipatan block of Bundi district.
Bundi district collector Ashish Gupta said the district level assessment of the loss and damage in the recent floods revealed a heavy damage of crops in over 50,000 hectares of land in the district, while crops in over 1.15 lakh hectares of land sustained loss due to the heavy rainfall. Besides, at least 7,000 houses were damaged and 12 persons were killed, along with around 200 cattle, he added.
Once the survey work is over, the victims would be given compensation, Gupta added.
The Central government panel admitted a huge loss and damage to crops as well as property in recent rains and the following floods in the area, and it is expected that a special package would be announced for relief to the people, MLA Chandrakanta Meghwal said. However, the panel did not assure of any package as it was not in their authority. The panel was there for survey and would submit the report accordingly, she added.
ADM AU Khan, CEO Zila Parishad, Bundi Murlidhar Pratihar and officials of PWD, CAD, JVVNL and water resources were present with the panel on the sites of damage.
