SHIMLA: There are 8,46,209 registered unemployed youth in Himachal Pradesh, of which 33,007 are under-matric, 1,95,548 are matriculate, 4,04,819 are Class 12 pass, 1,36,517 are graduates and 76,318 postgraduates. From January 1, 2018, to January 31 last year, 28,661 people were appointed in government posts.
Congress MLAs Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Mukesh Agnihotri and Vikramaditya Singh had asked questions about the total number of educated unemployed persons registered with employment exchanges in the state.
In the written reply, the state industries minister informed the House that 8,46,209 educated persons had been registered in the state as unemployed. In last two years, 28,661 persons have got jobs in government sector.
He said of these 28,661 persons, regular jobs were provided to 3,109 persons, contractual jobs to 17,390 persons, 415 people were appointed as daily wagers, and 7747 persons were provided jobs on part-time or outsourced basis.
In response to another question by Congress MLA Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, about ventilators provided under PM-CARES fund, the health minister in a written reply informed that 500 ventilators were provided to the state last year under the scheme, of which 461 ventilators had been installed in hospitals and medical colleges of the state.
Responding to a question by Congress MLA from Kinnaur Jagat Singh Negi, the power minister said in a written reply that 60% work of Shongthong Karchham hydro project in Kinnaur district was pending. He said work on the project started on August 4, 2012, at the price index of 2011, and the cost of this project was estimated at Rs 2,808 crore, of which Rs 1364.5 crore had already been spent on the project construction.
