This comes after Kohima bench of Gauhati High Court put a stay on Nagaland govt’s order for compulsory COVID-19 vaccination of its employees
Kohima: Following a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court, the Nagaland government has revoked its decision to stop the salaries of employees at the civil secretariat and directorates who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19. Testing for its employees attending office will also be free.
The Nagaland government had earlier notified that salaries of those who have not taken a single dose of the vaccine against coronavirus or who fail to furnish COVID-19 negative test report will be stopped beyond July 31.
While unvaccinated employees are required to produce COVID-19 negative test report by getting tested every 15 days through either RT-PCR/TrueNat/CBNAAT for attending office, the government has now made it free for its employees at the Government testing facilities.
This comes after the Kohima Bench of the Gauhati High Court put a stay on the state government’s order for compulsory COVID-19 vaccination of its employees after hearing a PIL.
On July 17, the government had warned that all employees/staff in the Nagaland Civil Secretariat and Directorates will be required to be vaccinated to attend office, or to produce COVID-19 negative test report by getting tested every 15-days through either RT-PCR, TruNat, or CBNAAT on self-payment basis as per government approved rates.
The government’s decision had also attracted wide criticism from political parties and civil societies. Some took to the streets to protest the government’s decision.
