The Income Tax India tweeted: “CBDT issues refunds of over Rs 43,991 crore to more than 21.03 lakh taxpayers between 1st April 2021 to 26th July 2021.”
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the statutory authority functioning under the Central Board of Revenue Act, 1963, on Friday said it has issued refunds of over Rs 43,991 crore till July 26 in the current fiscal.

Income tax refunds of Rs 13,341 crore have been issued in 19,89,912 cases. The corporate tax refunds of Rs 30,651 crore have also been issued in 1,12,567 cases.

The Finance Ministry had extended the date of filing income tax returns for the Assessment Year 2021-22 by two months. Earlier, it was 31 July 2021, but now one can file till 30 September 2021.
These are some of the Income Tax Returns-related tasks that should be completed before July 31, 2021. The Certificate of Tax Deducted at Source in Form No.16, required to be furnished to the employee by 15th June 2021 under Rule 31 of the Rules, as extended to 15th July 2021 vide Circular No.9 of 2021, maybe furnished on or before 31st July 2021.
The Statement of Income paid or credited by an investment fund to its unit holder in Form No. 64C for the previous year 2020-21, required to be furnished on or before 30th June 2021 under Rule 12CB of the Rules, as extended to 15th July 2021 vide Circular No.9 of 2021, maybe furnished on or before 31st July 2021.
