A gunbattle between terrorists and security forces broke out in the forest area of Sokbaba in Bandipora of Jammu and Kashmir.
Two unidentified terrorists were killed and three soldiers were injured in an encounter that broke out in the Shokbaba area of Sumlar in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday morning.
The operation is still underway, Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
A joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation after receiving ‘specific inputs’ about the presence of militants in the forest area of Shokbaba .
“As the security forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter,” an official said.
The operation is being carried out by a joint team of police, the army’s 13RR and 14RR besides CRPF, the official added.
Sources said that the exact number of militants is not known but the exchange of fire is going on from both sides.
