ROURKELA: Officials of Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) conducted raids at two prestigious clubs in the city for flouting Covid guidelines and sealed the clubs late on Sunday night. About 30-40 patrons were present in one of the clubs and they were being served food and beverages when the raid took place.
Sources said following information regarding activities at Rourkela Club and the Indo German Club, Rourkela ADM Diby Jyoti Parida ordered a raid. A team of officials from the RMC reached Rourkela Club at about 9.30 pm and it was found that about 30 to 40 people were present in the club and a party was going on. The club staff were serving food and beverages.
The officials sealed the club. Later, another raid was conducted at the Indo German Club by the same team. Although none of the patrons were present at the time, it was noticed that some of the bottles kept in the bar were open. It was presumed that the patrons were being served flouting Covid protocols and the place was sealed. “Since allegations of flouting Covid guidelines have been established, we have sealed both the clubs,” said Parida.
