Heavy Rainfall in Dharamshala, Cloudburst in Bhagsu, Dharamshala Today: Incessant Monsoon rains have triggered cloudbursts, flash floods and widespread destruction in Himachal Pradesh. Videos of flashflood in Dharmshala, an extremely popular tourist destination for many in North India’s Plains, have gone viral. As of now, there is no news of any casualty from any area of Himachal Pradesh. Here are the latest, live updates from Himachal’s Dharamshala, Kullu, Shimla:
1: Dharamshala is currently packed with tourists from Delhi and other surrounding areas. A video has surfaced online showing a huge amount of mud gushing into the town. Luxury cars are seen floating in the flashflood. Deputy Commissioner Nipun Jindal has also said that what happened in Bhagsu Nag can’t be categorised as a ‘cloud burst’. Jindal says that it looks like a case of flash flood triggered by heavy rains.
2: Shimla’s National Highway has been blocked near Jhakri in Rampur area. Many tourists are feared to be stuck due to the blockade.
3: Another cloudburst has been reported from Kangra. Latest update from news agency ANI says that two persons are reportedly missing in Kangra.
4: Manjhi river that flows near Dharamshala is in the spate. The nearby shops, huts have been destroyed due to the raging flow.
5: In neighbouring Uttarakhand, a landslide has been reported in Chamoli.
6: The Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway 07 has been blocked due to the landslide. Rescue efforts are on to clear the crucial Highway.
7: In Jammu’s Doda, situation remains tense after heavy rainfall.

9: Monsoon is a critical season for the Himalayan region. Due to heavy deforestation, rains have triggered floods in the recent past.
10: Earlier this year, Chamoli witnessed horrifying disaster on February 7 in the Nanda Devi National Park region due to landslide and cloudburst.
