Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi government on Tuesday launched a new social security scheme for coronavirus-hit families. The Chief minister also announced the launch of a dedicated portal for the purpose. He said as a responsible government, we are launching this scheme.
While announcing the scheme, CM Kejriwal said,” Delhi has faced four coronavirus waves, while the last one was most difficult one. This wave almost affected every family and many people lost their dear ones. Many children were orphaned, while many families lost their sole breadwinner. Being a responsible government, we have come up with this scheme,” he said.
As per the social security scheme, Under the ‘Mukhyamantri COVID-19 Pariwar Aarthik Sahayata Yojana’, ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 to every family that lost a member to Covid 19 infections. Besides, it promises to give another Rs 2500 per month to the family in case the Covid victim was the sole breadwinner.
Delhi Chief Minister said a dedicated portal has been also launched which can be used to apply for financial assistance in such cases. “Our representatives will also visit such families and help them in filling applications,” said Kejriwal. He said those applying for this scheme will not be harried. “I want to tell representatives not to conduct scrutiny of applications. If the families lack any document, we will help them in obtaining it. Don’t find faults with their documents,” Kejriwal said.
The aim is to provide financial assistance to bereaved families at the earliest. Earlier, the Delhi governmen thad notified the ‘Mukhyamantri COVID-19 Pariwar Aarthik Sahayata Yojana’ on June 22.
