INDORE: Amid signs of gradual rebound in tourists footfall at various monsoon destinations in state, Madhya Pradesh Tourism department has instructed all guides and taxi drivers to take the jab and display the status of vaccination across properties.
The tourism department has also put up a standard operating procedure in place to ensure a safe environment and urged visitors to follow Covid-19 appropriate behavior to combat the spread of the infection.
Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary Madhya Pradesh Tourism said, “To boost the confidence in tourists visiting Madhya Pradesh, we will display boards at our properties stating ‘ we are vaccinated’. Our staff at the corporation and board are almost 100 per cent vaccinated while other frontline workers have been kept on priority for vaccination against Covid-19.”
The tourism department is expediting efforts to vaccinate third party’ vendors, guides, taxi drivers and other frontline workers associated with the tourism department.
With the decline in the number of new Covid-19 cases, tourist’s footfall at major monsoon destinations has gone up including Pachmarhi. Sailani, Mandu, Maheswar and Choral. According to the Madhya Pradesh Tourism, most hotels at prime destinations are fully booked until July 10. The tourism department has also issued Covid-19 guidelines such as sanitization at regular intervals, mandatory’ wearing of masks and social distancing in setting tables in restaurants among others.
Shukla said, “There are no restrictions in Madhya Pradesh but we would advise tourists to get vaccinated for their own safety Tourism in Madhya Pradesh is open and every’ property is following all safety protocols.”
Officials said Covid-19 appropriate behavior will be strictly followed at properties. To boost tourist movement, the Travel Agents Association of India MP and CG chapter has urged the government to remove RT-PCR test norms on travellers and allow passengers on the basis of their vaccine certificates.
