AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat high court on Monday issued a notice to the state government and the Gujarat State Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board in response to a petition filed by three students of open schooling demanding to defer result of Class 10 regular students and declare it with theirs.
Three students, who have fill in their exam forms according to the Gujarat State Open School (GSOS) policy, are scheduled to take Class 10 exams in mid-July. The students have urged the HC to direct the board not to declare the results of regular students, who have been mass promoted due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Since the results for the students of open schooling will be declared late, the board should declare the result of regular students on the same day, submitted their advocate Sudhanshu Jha.
Justice N V Anjaria has asked the authorities to respond to the petition by July 5.
The petitioner students have taken exception to the board’s decision in not adhering to the uniform policy of mass promotion of regular students and those appearing through GSOS system, which they termed as arbitrary and violative of the principle of equality.
They have argued that the board would soon declare the result of regular students, but it would be able to declare petitioners’ result only after their exams. By then, the admissions in Class 11 would be over and the students from open schooling system would be at a disadvantage.
