TIRUPATI: A 60-year-old nurse who was first infected with Covid-19 and recovered but was later infected with black fungus committed suicide at the TTD run Sri Padmavathi state Covid hospital in Tirupati committed suicide by hanging herself to death inside a bathroom at the medicine ward of the super specialty hospital on Sunday.
According to Tirupati revenue divisional officer Kanaka Narsa Reddy, the 60-year-old identified as Jayamma was admitted to the state Covid hospital at SVIMS premises on May 25 after she got infected with mucormycosis. She had just recovered from Covid-19 infection.
The ailing patient committed suicide by hanging herself in a bathroom at the Covid hospital in the early hours on Sunday.
Meanwhile relatives of a deceased Covid-19 patient from Kalikiri staged protests at Sri Padmavathi state coronavirus hospital alleging that medical negligence had led to the death of their family member.
State health minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas who enquired about the twin incidents directed the hospital management and the district medical and health officer Dr U Srihari to ensure the best of medical care is available to the patients at the TTD run hospital in Tirupati.
