The Indian Railways has started three new trains for Uttar Pradesh. According to the reports, the first two train services have started from June 7, and the third will begin from June 11.
The new trains will run from Kanpur to New Delhi, Lucknow to Agra, and Prayagraj to Anand Vihar. The train from Kanpur to Delhi will operate 4 days a week and the one from Lucknow to Agra will run 5 days a week.
Railways Minister Piyush Goyal took to Twitter to announce the decision. He said that considering the safety from the COVID pandemic, it is important to follow the protocols during the train journey.
The announcement to run new trains has come when the states begun the unlocking process due to the reduction in the number of new COVID cases in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

The Uttar Pradesh government has removed COVID restrictions in 72 of 75 districts. Meanwhile, the Meerut, Saharanpur and Gorakhpur districts are still under the lockdown as the number of active cases are more than 600 in these destinations.
Delhi is under lockdown but some relaxations such as commencement of metro rail services with 50 per cent capacity have been allowed from June 7. The railways’ announcement of new train services is due to the belief that people would start travelling as a result of the unlocking process.
