Qualcomm opened a window for Android smartphone makers when it announced Snapdragon 870 chipset an upgrade on last year’s flagship Snapdragon 865+ processor. It allowed manufacturers to come up with more affordable flagship smartphones that manage to deliver very good performance for the price. In fact, the Snapdragon 870 SoC is turning out to be a better processor than Snapdragon 888 SoC because of the battery optimisation and good cooling system.
The most notable improvement on Snapdragon 865+ is 3.2 per cent increase in clock speed. A lot of smartphone brands including Vivo, Xiaomi, OnePlus and iQOO have already launched smartphones with Snapdragon 870 processor while few others may also follow the path in coming months.
Here are the best smartphones with Snapdragon 870 processor you can buy in India in June 2021.
OnePlus 9R
OnePlus 9R was one of the first smartphones to launch with Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC ,and it is also one of the best till date. Priced at Rs 39,999 for the base variant, the OnePlus 9R comes with up to 12GB RAM. It sports a 6.55-inch FHD+ flexible AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. The phone runs on Android 11-based OxygenOS custom version.
The reason you should consider the OnePlus 9R is that while both OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro have faced heating issues, OnePlus 9R seems to handle tasks a lot better. It packs a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging support.
Our verdict At a starting price of Rs 39,999, the OnePlus 9R is one of the most aggressively priced smartphones from OnePlus in recent years. It offers a premium-looking design, good performance, decent cameras, and a battery that should impress. Bonus points for some gaming-centric features that make it appealing to some extent for people who love to play games on their primary device.

Xiaomi Mi 11X
If you are looking from value point of view, then the Mi 11X is one of the best options with Snapdragon 870 SoC. It is priced at Rs 29,999 for the base variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The smartphone features a 6.67-inch E4 AMOLED display with support for 120Hz refresh rate. The device packs a 4,520mAh battery with 33W fast charging.
The Mi 11X features a 48-megapixel sensor, 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 5-megapixel macro sensor. While on the front, you get a 20-megapixel selfie camera. The camera performance is pretty average and that is one thing you should consider before spending on the Mi 11X.
Our verdict The buyers don’t have a very tough decision to make here. If high performance, decent display and battery are your priorities, the Mi 11X makes up for a good smartphone around Rs 30,000. It has a familiar but sophisticated design, an excellent E4 screen and delivers a good performance. The cameras, as I mentioned earlier, are on the weaker side. You can check out the OnePlus 9R, Vivo X60 or even the Mi 11X Pro for better camera performance.

iQOO 7
iQOO is emerging as a very promising brand on the mid-premium category and the iQOO 7 is an excellent smartphone that competes with OnePlus 9R and Mi 11X. The smartphone comes with a 6.62-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ and 1300 nits brightness. The iQOO 7 is also priced under Rs 35,000 and you can get the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
On the camera front, you get a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. On the front, the 16-megapixel camera supports selfies and video calls. The best Snapdragon 870 SoC phone packs a 4400mAh battery with support for 66W fast charging.
Vivo X60 Pro
We have listed this smartphone for its processor, but you should be spending on it because of its camera. The Vivo-Zeiss partnership has done wonders for the X60 series, and it promises a lot. The smartphone features a .56-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, an in-display fingerprint scanner and packs a 4300mAh battery.
The camera system includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor with OIS and two 13-megapixels sensors. The smartphone features a 32-megapixel camera on the front. The smartphone runs FunTouch OS on top of Android 11. That’s what you need to consider as Vivo’s custom Android skin is not the cleanest out there.
Our verdict The Vivo X60 Pro is the dark horse of 2021. Almost no one expected Vivo to come with such a powerful smartphone in India and the smartphone has surprised. OnePlus has made few sacrifices on the OnePlus 9 this year which may force few potential buyers to at least consider alternatives and the Vivo X60 Pro could just be that smartphone.
