The Andhra Pradesh government is targeting to establish a total of 80 hospitals in the next three years.
Andhra Pradesh, among the worst-hit states due to the novel coronavirus, is dealing with an overwhelmed health infrastructure. To tackle this, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday announced that his government will focus on establishing multi-special and super-special hospitals in the next three years in all 13 district headquarters and three corporations of the state — Rajahmundry, Tirupati and Vijayawada.
The Andhra Pradesh government will allot 5 acres of land each in around 30-50 acre to build health institutions.
”These lands will be given to investors who are willing to invest at least Rs 100 crore in the next three years,” Jagan Mohan Reddy said.

Meanwhile, on Friday, the state reported 14,429 fresh coronavirus cases and 103 Covid-19 fatalities. With this, the active number of Covid-19 cases in the state has jumped to 1,80,362, according to the state government data.
At the same time, the gross number of Mucormycosis (Black Fungus) cases went up to 808 in Andhra Pradesh on Friday as 229 were reported afresh in a day.
“But lack of sufficient stock of medicine to treat the affected patients has become a cause for concern,” officials of the Health Department told Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy during a review meeting on Covid-19 on Friday evening.
So far, the Centre has sent 5,200 liposomal Amphotericin-B injections to Andhra Pradesh, but that was not even 10 per cent of the requirement, a release from the CMO quoted the officials as telling the chief minister.
