CBSE 12th Board Exams 2021 have been postponed. While CBSE has denied claims of possibility of cancelling the examination, Education Ministry has said that decision is likely by May 25.
Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE is expected to give a decision on CBSE Class 12 Board Examination 2021. Many experts and reports have opined that there is a possibility of the exam being cancelled even as students rally for the same. The Ministry of Education (erstwahile HRD Ministry) in an statement has now confirmed that the decision on Class XII Board Exams is likely by May 25. Till then, the reports of cancellation of 12th Board Exams have been denied as speculation.
Replying to the many requests of students on twitter, CBSE has denied the possibility of cancellation of the board examinations. Contradicting reports in another daily suggest that the Ministry of Education, however, is not too convinced and may also consider the same. A senior official in the Ministry of Education has reportedly told TOI that the likelihood of examination getting cancelled. “Given the current situation, there is a possibility of scrapping the exams altogether. CBSE will review the situation and probably would have to work out an alternative assessment scheme for the Class 12 students,” he told the daily.
Meanwhile, the official word from the MoE and CBSE remains ‘under review’. The decision of cancelling the exams, another official points out, cannot be taken independently. However, given the present situation, an infinite delay and uncertainty is a point of concern. The aim, shared by an official from MoE, is to ensure that the academic year of the students is not wasted. Cancellation of the board exams may leave a wide gap and confusion in regards university admissions for millions of students.
Experts had earlier opined the same, pointing out that there must be a certain plan B that the board must keep ready. Speaking to Times Now, many academicians, ex-CBSE officials and Principals have shared that CBSE cannot dismiss cancellation of board exams for Class 12. The challenge of conducting examinations is lesser, as per many, than cancelling them.
