Karanji Lake, Karnataka
This beautiful lake in the city of Mysore is just 2 km away from the Mysore Palace. Surrounded by a butterfly park, it is truly an oasis in the middle of the city. You would be thrilled to know that the lake also has a walk-through aviary, which is the biggest in India. A great place for birdwatchers, herons, and egrets make appearences quite often.

Vembanad Lake, Kerala
The longest lake in India, Vembanad Lake is picturesque. Spending languid days here in a houseboat is a must-have experience for tourists. Interestingly, the lake is known by different names in the different parts of the state, as it flows through many different cities, towns. Watching the sunset here at the lake is nothing compared to any other sunsets you might have had experienced in the past.

Kodaikanal Lake, Tamil Nadu
A man-made lake in the city of Kodaikanal, it is a very important tourist attraction here in the city. Of course Kodaikanal is a wonderful little hill town, and the lake adds to its charm. Boating is a very exciting activity that most tourists come to experience here at the lake. You can also ride on horses around the lake. It is basically a wonderful place to enjoy a great family outing.

Kolleru Lake, Andhra Pradesh
A freshwater lake in the state of Andhra Pradesh, Kolleru Lake is located between the Krishna, and Godavari deltas. It is home to migratory birds during the winter months, and is therefore a major tourist attraction. There are an estimated 20 million migratory, and resident birds here in the lake.
