Haryana authorises DCs of 6 districts to impose Section 144, work from home

The Haryana CM ruled out a lockdown in the state but said there will be “lockdown-like conditions” in place in the worst-hit districts (Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Hisar, Karnal and Panchkula), if needed.

Chandigarh: TheHaryana government on Saturday informed that the deputy commissioners of Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Hisar, Karnal and Panchkula shall consider imposing prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC prohibiting the gatherings of more than four people unless specifically permitted. Order for “work from home” in all corporate and IT offices may also be issued.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar chaired a state-level meeting of the coronavirus control committee on Saturday after which he made the statement.

The CM ruled out the imposition of a lockdown in the state but said there will be “lockdown-like conditions” in place in the worst-hit six districts, if needed.

Restrictions have also been imposed on functions with a cap of 50 people for both indoor and outdoor events. For funerals, only 20 people will be allowed, the CM said.

“The authorities will only allow gatherings if it is necessary with a limit of 50 people,” he added.

The CM also said that private hospitals have been asked to keep 50 per cent of their beds for infection patients. Additionally, 1,000 beds have been made available at the PGI in Rohtak.

With regard to liquid medical oxygen supply, the CM said there will now be at least 2,250 beds with oxygen facilities in government hospitals. He added that there is no shortage of oxygen in hospitals.

“We had demanded 180 metric tonnes of liquid oxygen a day from the Centre, who fixed our quota at 162 MT,” he said, adding that the state government will submit a revised demand of 200 MT tonnes per day to the Centre. The Haryana government had placed an order for 6,000 MT of oxygen from the Bokaro steel plant, which will arrive soon by a special train, the CM said.
