Confused about how to transfer Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) online in a simple way? This is very easy and you can do this by following these steps. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) allows online transfer of EPF and it can be done in the manner prescribed by the retirement fund body.

Know how to transfer EPF online

  1. Visit Unified Member Portal – https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ and log in with your UAN and password. UAN is Universal Account Number which is unique for every user.
  2. Go to Online Services and click on the option ‘One Member – One EPF Account (Transfer Request)’.  
  3. Verify ‘Personal Information’ and PF Account for present employment.
  4. Click ‘Get Details’, PF Account Details of Previous Employment will appaear.
  5. Choose either current employer or previous employer for attesting form.  
  6. Click ‘Get OPT’ to receive OTP on UAN registered mobile number. Enter OTP and click ‘Submit’.

EPFO is one of the World’s largest Social Security Organisations in terms of clientele and the volume of financial transactions undertaken, as per its own claims. At present it maintains 19.34 crore accounts (Annual Report 2016-17) pertaining to its members.

You can access your EPFO account using the UMANG App. In the app, you can view your passbook, raise a claim and also track the status of your claims already submitted and much more.

You must know that both the employer and employee are required to contribute 12 per cent of the employee’s basic salary and dearness allowance every month to the EPF account. Only employees of companies registered under the EPF Act, can invest in the EPF or PF.
